Building dashboards people actually trust

Fact: most BI roles, today, are pixel-pushing in disguise. You inherit a semantic model nobody documented, chase down “why don’t these two numbers match” tickets, and ship reports that get opened once and forgotten.

At Ideas2IT, the right candidate for this role will build BI that people actually use to make decisions; on AI platforms, large-scale cloud-native products, and businesses that have gone on to become independently funded startups.

Work mode: Chennai — hybrid, 3 days/week in office.

What you’ll actually do as a Lead/Architect – Power BI with us:

• Sit with stakeholders to understand what decision a report needs to drive, not just what fields go on it, and translate that into technical specs
• Design and deploy BI solutions end-to-end in Power BI (and Tableau/Quicksight where relevant)
• Define the KPIs that matter and architect the multi-dimensional data models behind them
• Turn dense, messy data into dashboards a non-technical exec can read in ten seconds
• Build and ship dynamic, production-grade dashboards and reports — not one-off exports
• Own unit testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning on existing BI systems
• Bring AI into the BI layer: automate analysis and reporting with Python or R, not just DAX
• Set data security and access standards, and train the teams who’ll use what you build

Must-haves:

• 9–13 years of experience designing and shipping Power BI reports and dashboards
• Strong SQL and hands-on data modeling for BI (star schemas, KPIs, multi-dimensional models)
• A track record of translating business requirements into technical specs, independently
• Experience with database management and data warehousing
• Strong written and verbal communication — you’ll present to stakeholders directly, not through a proxy

Nice-to-haves:

• Power BI certification
• Working knowledge of Tableau or Quicksight
• Python or R for advanced analysis and automation
• Prior experience layering AI/ML insights into a BI solution
• Experience in designing and building semantic models
• Experience in mentoring junior team members
• Project management or team-lead experience
